I’ve had quite a few questions about the launch of George Michael: Inside Out – The Stories Behind the Songs, so here’s a little update.
At the moment, my publisher/printer is busy with customs forms, retail prices versus customs values, and everything else involved in getting the books where they need to be, with pallets heading into stock in both the Netherlands and the UK.
So, when the stars are aligned and George is inclined… I’m hoping they’ll arrive in around two weeks. 🤞 That’s still an estimate, but I’ll share more as soon as the timing becomes clearer.
While we wait, a few words about why I wrote this book. As a translator, writer and language specialist, I’ve always been fascinated by what words reveal when we listen closely. With George’s songs, that fascination became a journey through recurring themes of identity, love, shame, freedom, faith, grief and self-acceptance.
Rather than another biography or a track-by-track analysis, this book explores those themes through his own interviews, public statements and authorised sources, letting George explain his work in his own words wherever possible.
My hope is simple: that it sends you back to his music and helps you hear something you hadn’t noticed before.
